The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston donated their collection of 16mm film prints to the Harvard Film Archive in 2007. TECO used to loan prints to venues and organizations in and around the city of Boston. Culled from the years 1979–1994, 115 titles from Taiwan and Hong Kong are represented here as well as a handful of film posters. All of the films are in Mandarin with English subtitles.
The collection includes many kung fu titles such as Hsiao Ton Cheng's Dragon Inn (1992), Wu Wanlali's The Kung Fu Kids (1982) and Fang Hoa's Raiders of the Shaolin Temple (1982). Popular works by Edward Yang are featured (That Day at the Beach [1983], Taipei Story [1985], The Black Skin and White Tooth [1985], Terrorizer [1986]); as well as Ang Lee’s first film Pushing Hands (1992) and Ann Hu's Song of the Exile (1990). Other titles of note include Liang Chun Chao's Marvelously Fast Juvenile Delinquents (1988), Dunping Yang's Return of the Electric Love (1982) and Even the Sun is Sobbing (1983) by Chin-Tang Lai.
