Ukrainian Collection

The Ukrainian Collection was donated to the Harvard Film Archive in 2003 by the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI), whose mission since their founding in 1971 is the advancement of knowledge about the Ukraine in the United States through teaching and research. The collection consists of approximately seventy-five 16mm and 35mm projection prints and videos, produced in the Ukraine from 1937 to 1990. A highlight from the collection includes a 35mm print of Ivan Kavaleridze’s 1937 classic, Cossacks Beyond the Danube. The films included in the collection include features, newsreels and shorts.
