Two words: Unhinged women. What more can you ask for in a black comedy? Here’s what to expect on the Pedro Almodóvar rollercoaster: Set in 1988 Madrid, Pepa, a soap star grappling with heartbreak caused by her lover Iván, sets off a chain reaction involving guns, awkward taxi drivers, and a dash of gazpacho. Joining the mayhem are Iván’s wife on a vengeance spree, Candela seeking refuge from a Shiite terrorist, Antonio Banderas caught in the Valium-laced gazpacho web, and his fiancé, Marisa, taking a nice little nap whilst all of this happens. Rom-com, but make it film noir! – Lydia Fraser, Harvard College '25
