The Lothar and Eva Just Film Stills Collection contains over 800,000 film stills, pressbooks and other ephemera originally amassed by Lothar Just, a Munich-based film publicist. This exhibit highlights some of the collection's lobby cards which were small cardboard posters, usually about 11" x 14". More common for American films, they were often sent to theaters as sets featuring a series of scenes from the film and could then to be used as additional advertisement in theaters, much like a compressed movie trailer. Later, similar sorts of cards would just be sent to distributors and publicists as part of their press kit, not necessarily meant for display. In the Just collection, naturally, most of the cards are in German.
