After being tricked into thinking he has killed his older brother Lennie, seven-year-old Joey runs away to Coney Island. While Joey has his own adventures on the beach, the very alive Lennie is looking everywhere for his lost little brother. Winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award for best story, this landmark film is famous for its naturalistic, detailed depiction of 1950s Brooklyn; its innovative use of on-location shooting, portable equipment and low-budget workarounds heavily influenced the French New Wave.
